Laurie MitchellFrom the Director's Chair ...

I must begin by saying I had pledged to never re-mount a show that had already been performed in the rich history of Catholic Central's Musical theatre; however, I changed my mind because I believe we had the students who could do it and I hope eighteen years is enough of a break that our show will not be continuously compared to the previous version! Although if anyone is in the audience who has seen them both, it is always nice to reminisce so let us know your thoughts. Similarly the stage play is different from the lovely movie musical starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plumber so do not hold your breath waiting for "I Have Confidence" or "Something Good" but you will be treated to songs that perhaps provide a thoughtful difference. I do ask that you suspend your belief as theatre begs you to do and allow our teenage von Trapps and nuns to bring the story to life for you. Much as the stage play and screenplay have taken license with the original saga of the real-life Trapp family who left Austria, each production does exactly that playing with the unity of time and action - months become days, teenagers become adults and children, and of course you are transported to another place and time. The students and staff have worked very hard on this detailed show so we invite you to sit back and enjoy the story and the sound of the music.

Thank you to all the creative helping hands that created the show and for supporting musicals here at Catholic Central. We couldn't do it without you!
